“We’re not saying it’s aliens… but it’s Other.”

From the DNI Preliminary Assessment of UAP report:

Other: Although most of the UAP described in our dataset probably remain unidentified due to limited data or challenges to collection processing or analysis, we may require additional scientific knowledge to successfully collect on, analyze and characterize some of them. We would group such objects in this category pending scientific advances that allowed us to better understand them. The UAPTF intends to focus additional analysis on the small number of cases where a UAP appeared to display unusual flight characteristics or signature management.

Some opinions, if we may…

It is clear the report left the door wide open a number of follow-up possibilities. Mainly the call for further scientific study of UAP, presumably funded mostly by the federal government but we see no reason independent academia and consortia such as the SCU cannot participate. In fact, the more serious research done outside the influence of the federal government, the better, for obvious reasons the reader doesn’t need rehashed here.

Nowhere does the word “alien” or “extraterrestrial” appear in the report. See, Other.

One would expect the budget of the UAPTF to increase. Possibly dramatically. The public deserve to know what they find. We shall see. Transperancies, such to the extent we get them at all, shift their gradients with the coming and going of presidents and bureacrats.

Those independent UFO researchers outside the govermnmental sphere should take heart. The Feds have officially joined the party (again) and lets be hopeful there is solid data and results shared to the extent that national security is not compromised, of course. Of course?

One of the best achivements in all of this is that the dime has turned in the mainstream media. Take a look at this, and consider the audience it is intended to inform. Hint, it is not the usual sensationalistic reporting on the subject.

It is interesting. UFOs have been repackaged and remarketed by the US Military/Infotech industry in sheathes of “baffling technology,” “potential threat,” “hazard to US airspace,” “adversary,” and “other.” It is true, those leading the charge to find the truth, now the Elizondo/Mellon/Corbell Axis of Information, have couched the subject in the very terms the DNI report used. One may recall the previous Axis of Information was the Elizondo/Mellon/DeLonge trinity, but somewhere along the way DeLonge got expelled and has been replaced by Corbell. We are not impugning the sincerity of their intentions, merely making interesting observations based on the ongoing analysis of the situation.

Whatever misgivings or trust issues stalwart UFO researchers may have regarding the DNI report, it should be considered a mostly positive event. Additional focus on the phenomenon by the media, citizenry of the US and the world is helpful to furthering the cause of clearing a path toward a better understanding of the truth behind this most befuddling of puzzles. As this blog has stated recently, even those who believe, should possibly pause and give deeper thought to the ramifications to the reality that there exists an “Other” category of intelligence and capability.
