The Illusion Worlds: A Need For Different Analysis Perspectives

Note: What follows is the Introduction chapter of my book, “The Illusion Worlds.” This book is a work in a progress.

  1. Decomposing A Phenomenon

In the discipline of Business Analysis various techniques are utilized to define complex systems, business operations and objectives in a manner which achieves a level of communication that can be understood by various audiences of different training, skill and educational backgrounds. Business Analysis as a field has its roots arguably going back to the time of Aristotle when the departmentalization of labor was associated with solutions proposed to increase efficiency of resource output. The Industrial then Information Revolutions pushed the advancing skill-set into a more diverse set of techniques in response to the changing nature of business and industry affected by these new paradigms affecting the way business is conducted.

Having read and researched a large volume of UFO material over the years it struck me that a business analysis approach to the topic was rarely employed. These methods could be useful in the reframing of UFO research as they are applicable in a polyvariant manner toward topics, events, scenarios and observations beyond just business processes, operations and information technology.

But no singular analysis technique is all-encompassing. In an attempt to further expand the spectrum of technique in which we can analyze this most puzzling of phenomena my ambition could not stop at business analysis. Indeed, it seems logical the Socratic Method can also be applied to assist in filling in the gaps. And where the Socratic approach may not hold water, the philosophical analysis techniques of Jiddu Krishnamurti may further bring us to fuller understanding of the nature of what is humanity’s most grappling Big Question.

I assess the analytical approach in this manner:

Business Analysis techniques – provides a hard deconstruction of an event, especially the common technique of decomposition

Socratic Method – provides a logical reasoning to determine the nature and truth of an event

Krishnamurti Philosophical base analysis – provides an analytical approach rooted in a philosophical attempt to free the mind from scientific, personal, societal and religious, among other influences, conditioning based on the philosophical approach and instruction of Juddah Krishnamurti.

  1. J. Krishnamurti

“Truth is a pathless land.”

— J. Krishnamurti

“Man cannot come to it (truth) through any organization, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, not through any philosophical knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the mirror of relationship, through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection.”

— J. Krishnamurti

The core of Krishnamurti’s teaching can be stated as the above. Krishnamurti taught and communicated through a voluminous amount of writing, lectures and journals that humanity cannot find truth through his inventions of organizations, creeds, dogmas, religious authorities, rituals, psychological techniques or philosophies. The only path to truth must go through the individual’s self-inquiry of one’s own mind. The observation of one’s thoughts, introspective analysis, an intellectual inquiry of the self, its beliefs, ideas, symbols, political orientations, morality, experience, relationships to others, the environments of nature and society and their various instigated causations affecting daily life.

Krishnamurti realized and repeatedly emphasized is that the result of coming to awareness of the myriad influences of the mind is the realization of true freedom. And only through that state of total freedom can a person come to the realization of truth.

Reading Krishnamurti, it struck me that while this core teaching is a wonderful philosophical perspective, it is also extremely useful as an analytical mindset. Especially when one considers all of the confirmation bias and preconceptional “baggage” the UFO subject brings to table.

It would be effective for researchers to come to the subject absent the preconditions of myth, institutional training, societal and peer opinion, monetary influence, superficial culture, personal beliefs, authority and organizational political pressure. But equally important, the absence of personal experience and beliefs, perhaps even at a subconscious level,  which alters perception of analysis.

Thought is time. Thought is born of experience, of knowledge, which are inseparable from time. Time is the psychological enemy of man. Our action is based on knowledge and, therefore, time, so man is always a slave to the the past.

When man becomes aware of the movement of his own consciousness he will see the division between the thinker and the thought, the observer and the observed, the experiencer and the experience. He will discover that this division is an illusion. Then only pure observation, which is insight without any shadow of the past. This timeless insight brings about a deep radical change in the mind.

Krishnamurti had a method of inquiry which, in many ways, mirrors the business analysis technique of decomposition. This is perhaps why the author, being a business analyst by training,  was struck with Krishnamurti’s method. Or, as Marcus Aurelius asked, “What is it in itself? In Its own construction?” To understand the construction, one must deconstruct, decompose its components to the best of one’s perceptual ability. If there ever were an area of research in which this technique would be useful it is the UFO phenomena.

When considering the UFO phenomena it would serve one well to achieve to the best extent possible the freedom of the preconditioning state as advocated by Krishnamurti. This is especially useful on a less macro level, the case-by-case analysis.

The researcher should consider the following meditations when conducting an analysis of the phenomena:

  • Free the mind of preconceived notions about the phenomena at hand that originate from philosophical, religious, spiritual and political belief systems.
  • Free the mind from symbolic associations that originate from one’s previous life experience including education, advertisements and other forms of symbolic metadata.
  • Free the mind from confirmation biases, scientific or otherwise, which may have been formulated from the personal experiences and interactions one has with other individuals and peers, especially those who have acted as a mentor, parent, or other role of significant meaning and closeness to the researcher.

The Illusion Worlds: Introduction

Note: What follows is the Introduction chapter of my book, “The Illusion Worlds.” This book is a work in a progress.

My doctrine is to think the thought that is unthinkable; to practice the deed that is not doing; to speak the speech that is inexpressible; and to be trained in the discipline which is beyond discipline. Those who understand this are near; those who are confused are far.  The way is beyond words and expressions, is bound by nothing earthly. Lose sight of it to an inch or miss it for a moment, and we are away from it forever more. — Buddha

It is the opinion of the author that no subject other than the UFO phenomena and its sub-branches of investigative topics covers more fertile intellectual ground in the vast garden of human experience and knowledge. It is a small wonder thousands of individuals of all walks of life, educational and professional experience, spiritual and religious training and beliefs have all been drawn to this penultimate enigmatic puzzle. Perhaps only religious faith stands larger in its breadth of intellectual calling.

As a researcher with strong interest in both UFOs and comparative religious and spiritual beliefs I count myself among the many who cannot resist the siren call of the phenomena. Hence, this book you are now reading. How my interest in both topics came to be, for they are linked in a most unlikely fashion, is perhaps the topic of a future book. The UFO subject is one that serves as an unavoidable vortex of implications to and connections of history, science, astronomy, physics, biology, sociology and psychology. And those are just the mainstream topics it touches. On the outer edges the subject is woven within transpersonal psychology, parapsychology, paranormal, spiritual belief systems, indigenous culture mythologies, mainstream religions, entheogenesis, art, archeology, military studies, politics, philosophy, media, information technology, alternative energy, theoretical physics and occultism. There are offshoots from those branches of knowledge as well. So an individual with even a casual interest in the topic may quickly come to the conclusion that UFOs can open many doors to other interesting areas of knowledge.

Given the deep interest and variety of studies within which the subject may be approached, it is logical that a dearth of material has been created over the years since Kenneth Arnold first sighted nine objects flying over Mt. Rainier from the cockpit of his plane in June of 1947 launching the “modern” UFO era. And are we as a species any closer to an explanation of what the phenomena is or isn’t? Always a debatable contention. My answer is yes, we are slightly nearer for reasons I will attempt to go into within this book and perhaps other writings which you can find on my blog at____. But there is still a stratospheric mountain of proof and understanding that we must climb together.

Great puzzles of this magnitude often cannot be solved alone. They require a coming together of minds intent on working on various pieces so that the whole, the truth of the matter may come into realization. It of course does not help when some entities choose to withhold information, be it independent researchers, government or military. It is very likely, given the evidence amassed over the years that key holders of information are not forthcoming with what they know. I’m aware that may be a vast understatement in light of what we have witnessed from the intelligence, military and governmental bodies in the United States. The reality of the situation is that independent researchers must continue to investigate, theorize and publish knowing much of their conclusions may already be known to the American and other governments around the world who choose to cover-up, obfuscate and deny knowledge of facts concerning the UFO phenomena. True, significant progress has recently been made by the recent revelations of the Pentagon ATIP program and associated video released proving the United States government has an active ongoing interest into the study of the UFOs. Compelling videos and insider admissions are merely the tip of the iceberg of the potential magnitude of information possessed within governmental agencies.

One of the main themes of this book is to underscore the importance of practicing multiple analytical techniques in the pursuit of determining the true nature of the UFO phenomena and attempting to peer beyond the veil of the intertwined Illusion Worlds. The Illusion Worlds, as I will explain, cloud our search for the truth of the UFO phenomena. I believe researchers must do their best to pierce the veils of the Illusion Worlds if there is to be any momentous new understanding of the nature of the phenomenon.

I will outline techniques which will reduce the obstacles to truth laid upon us by The Illusion Worlds. There is no order in application of the techniques discussed in this book and there are certainly more available which may be utilized in a cross-filtering manner in order to decompose the phenomena and its multitudinous psychological, physical and historical aspects.

UFO research is changing mostly for the better. A return to a more scientific method-analytic approach is being advocated for by many researchers new to the field.  This initiative may be driven by this era of emerging Big Data and advances in analytical computational techniques which are finally beginning to benefit the analysis of UFO phenomena research by applying a data science approach.

It may be as the Buddha said, that the UFO phenomena is, “the thought that is unthinkable” and “The way (to understanding it) is beyond words and expressions, is bound by nothing earthly.” If we as a curious species, “Lose sight of it to an inch or miss it for a moment, and we are away from it forever more.” Then we owe it to ourselves as seekers of purity of truth to approach our investigations with every tool at our disposal.

I believe UFO researchers of all classifications need renewed or new application of systems of thought and analysis with which to approach the phenomena. This book is my contribution and promotion of that idea.

Asking The Big Question

You may have heard there is a biomarker in the Venusian atmosphere that points to the possibility of microbioal life. In this intriguing article, Forbes asks the big question. If life is proven to exist on Venus, or inside our solar system, what does it mean for our lives?

Of course the big question has always been – will it upend or stop religions? I tend to think not. Human faith will not end unless humanity decides for it to end regardless of the reality of our place in the universe changing. Even the Vatican is on record of premptively stating that proof of extraterrestrial life does not contradict one’s faith in God.

“Post-proof”

I came across this today. There are advancements implemented to the Doug Trumbull UFOTOG project that is designed to detect UAP using state of the art sensormatic photography equipment.

It strikes me that between efforts such as this, and the US military’s advanced detection systems which arguably are leading to an increase in detection of and encounter with UAP that we are at the point where it could be considered the “post-proof” world. That is, we now KNOW with certainty that UAP exists, we can discern they are intelligently controlled by their actions and that they clearly possess propulsion and energy capabilities that far exceed what we are capable of today.

Thus, if we consider that we are living in a period of time in which the reality of UAP/UFO, at least from CEI and CEII classification, has been established, how do we proceed from here? While certainly much, much more scientific study needs to be done identifying and understanding the technology of these craft, we are now unshackled to begin openly considering their origin and nature in mainstream forums. This is such a multivariable phenomena that it is no wonder so many have dedicated much of their lives studying it. Many of the answers may already be known, much of the cart has been put before the horse over the years. That is to say, theories about their nature have been put forth for years prior to our current level of verification of CEI and CEII classifications. Perhaps we are now at the point when science is beginning to catch up with the psycho-spiritual dimensions of the phenomenon?

Book: Somewhere In The Skies. A Very Prescient Forward.

The 2nd edition of this book contains as up to the minute forward chapter as one could hope to read. It looks like a very interesting read and has been added to our “books in queue” list. Researching, studying and documenting the “post-UFO event” impact on the human psyche holds a large piece of the nature-of-the-phenomenon puzzle in our opinion. If you have read the earlier or current edition of this book drop your thoughts in the comments.

How Much UAP Classified Material is the Pentagon Sitting On?

Luis Elizondo formerly of the AATIP program which studied UAP for the U.S. government stated recently to Newsweek that the Pentagon has a lot more classified videos of unidentified phenomena filmed over our country’s airspace.

To even the casual researcher this comes as no surprise but it is nice to see mainstream media giving serious coverage to the UAP reality. Part of what makes this new paradigm in UAP reporting exciting is with sober journalistic treatment of the subject historical facts take on a new level of importance.

Indeed, despite the U.S. government and military’s repeated assertions they were out of the UFO game after closing Project Blue Book, they just simply maintained their awareness/interest/study of it behind the closed doors of “classified.”

October, 1969* – A U.S. Air Force Academy textbook, “Introductory Space Science,” is found to contain a 14 page chapter titled “Unidentified Flying Objects.” A copy of the book was obtained by NICAP – National Investigative Committee on Aerial Phenomenon. It was described that the chapter contained a number of summaries of impressive sighting reports and the various theories that were used to explain the nature of the phenomenon. Accurately the textbook points out it is difficult to deal with UFO-related data due to the high degree of “vagueness,” “a very high level of noise,” which is common in data of “excessive variety.”

The book then concludes (italics mine):

“From available information, the UFO phenomenon appears to have been global in nature for almost 50,000 years. The majority of known witnesses have been reliable people who have seen easily-explained natural phenomena, and there appears to be no overall positive correlation with the population density. The entire phenomenon could be psychological in nature but that is quite doubtful. However, psychological factors probably do enter the data picture as “noise.” The phenomenon could also be entirely due to known and unknown natural phenomena (with some psychological “noise” added in) but that too is questionable in view of some of the available data.

This leaves the unpleasant possibility of alien visitors to our planet or at least of alien controlled UFOs. However, the data are not well correlated, and what questionable data there are suggest the existence of at least three and maybe four different groups of aliens (possibly at different stages of development). This too is difficult to accept. It implies the existence of intelligent life on a majority of the planets in our solar system, or a surprisingly strong interest in Earth by members of other solar systems.”

Further into the chapter cadets are advised to keep an open mind and skeptical approach to UFOs and avoid taking a position either pro or con, but rather try to remain neutral.

We have here a tacit admission that the U.S. Air Force took the UFO phenomenon serious enough to brief their cadets on the matter and to advise them to try and remain neutral in their opinions if they were caught up in events related to the phenomenon. This is coming from a military branch that previously said the subject warranted no serious study. Clearly, they considered the topic worthy enough to include in cadet textbooks which implies classroom discussion routinely occurred.

Thanks to FOIA and researchers persistence, this is just one of many instances documented that factually prove the U.S. Air Force and other branches of the military have indeed been interested in UFOs for decades. Ergo, the CIA and FBI have been collecting data, at a minimum. The FBI repository of data and investigation is on the block to be made public should the recent bill from the Select Committee on Intelligence pass.

It is then logical to deduce that the U.S. military-intelligence complex likely has extensive data collections pertaining to UAP/UFO sightings, observations and encounters. If we take 1947 as the starting year of intelligence gathering that now totals 73 years worth of material that may have been collected through the various arms of government. Go to any Internet sighting database today and you will see multiple civilian reports coming in numbering in the 10s to hundreds worldwide. Statistical correlation of sightings demands collection of observables, especially when the observations are made by credible, trained, non-civilian personnel.

Does the Pentagon have more videos and material documenting The Phenomenon? Yes. They have massive troves of it.

Reason for Cautious Excitement

Jack Brewer throws some needed cold water on the latest “Disclosure” excitement. This is reasonable. We have been down this road before. But what makes the forthcoming bill from the Select Committee on Intelligence is that the events leading up to it have been barriers blown through which we’ve not previously seen in relation to increased transparency from the military and government. It is logical to conclude this paradigm is changing for the better. And while researchers and other interested parties are right to temper their expectations and remain cautious, there is also much cause for some enthusiastic hope.

The established certainty of the existence on anomalous skyborne phenomena which exhibits clearly physical manifestation presents ramifications throughout various strings of human inquiry, many of which we haven’t thought of yet.

For starters, theories focusing on “holographic” presentations to unsuspecting witnesses or subjects may likely lose a bit of credence. We know physical objects with mindbending peculiar features and maneuverability exist and can function in ways that defy our understanding of what is capable within the bounds of known physics. It is thus possible that military personnel on the ground have observed and dealt with such devices as Cmdr. David Fravor and his crew did in the now-famous Nimitz encounters.

One could be forgiven to conclude that the establishment as factual certainty that craft of unknown origin and capability exists as part of our consensus reality and that the human experience must proceed henceforth with this knowledge in mind. What remains the great puzzlement is the nature, origin, and purpose of such objects. This is where the potential for vast cognitive dissonance amongst the populace resides.

There is frequent use of the word, “data” in the official verbiage. Notably, you do not read many discussions from official government sources around discerning the origin and intent of the craft other than frequent use of the term, “potentially hostile.”

It seems from any determinative conclusion there are only two possible outcomes available. One, the craft are designed and operated by foreign nation-states. Two, they are not.

One is fraught with many eye-opening considerations for our country. Two is fraught with many mind-blowing ramifications for the human species. Let us hope that somewhere in the collected data there is to be found a path to understanding what the nature of the unidentified aerial phenomena is for all our sakes.
