UFO’s, Intriguing Business.

It strikes me that those who are engaged in a “life of the mind” are naturally drawn to the pursuit or at least interest in the UFO phenomenon. And why wouldn’t it? When one sits down to truly ponder, logically, the evidence and other attributes of the phenomena it presents perhaps the greatest puzzle known to humanity. It can be no accident that Hynek, Vallee and now contemporaries such as Bigelow and Prasad have become obsessed with a lifelong pursuit of discovering the nature of the phenomenon. And surely there are others, as I have heard, in Silicon Valley and elsewhere whose pursuits remain under the radar. This is the modern Invisible College D.W. Palsulka has spoken about and written about in her book, American Cosmic.

Absent formal technical training, the naturally curious mind also has its intellectual gaze drawn to the phenomenon. It is a puzzle too myriad and tantalizing to ignore. People with great observational and investigatory skills are drawn to the UFO siren call because it presents an ever changing combination of evidentiary truth that ultimately only functions as a thin veneer covering the actual amorphous complexity of the enigma that one finds when the evidence leads to more contradictory or explanation-defying variables. Further clouding the truth is the researcher’s inherent subconscious and deliberate biases. There is danger in our human tendencies, some of which manifest themselves in confirmation bias and at worst, deliberate deception to further a wish-fueled or ego-driven agenda.

The best research follows the data rigorously. As is often the case in Ufology, even the data can lead you into avenues where only speculation can be the tonic applied to phenomena that wounds our understanding of reality. And that is fine, speculation is our useful tool for developing new avenues of research, data collection and test scenarios.

When you strip away the cheap emotional rewards of media buzz, sensationalism and other distractions, the study and research of Ufology is a truly fascinating and illuminating subject. It is a handsomely intriguing proposition, this UFO business.

Again, About Those Recent CIA Files…

We could not help but dig a bit deeper into the recent documents released by the CIA pertaining to UFO’s as detailed in a FOIA request from The Black Vault. This time around we ran a topic extraction analysis. We must again state this is a beyond-normal challenging set of documents due to the sheer volume of repeating alpha character patterns that are found in most documents as part of the CIA’s structure of memos. In fact, if we didn’t know any better, the odd combination of what are seemingly random letters strung together are nothing of the sort. They appear more frequently than logical word combinations such as “Soviet Union.” One example is “PAXINBUA BTUEPAMSG.” This means something to someone. It appears 149 times with a high TD-IDF of 354.0. Or, “QL EEEEE HKAEE AA” that appears 190 times with a very high TD-IDF of 451.4. These word combinations are like ciphers that mean something to CIA, military and other US Intel personnel. To us they appeared as an obvious code system. A quick Internet search proved this to be true. They’re referred to as Cryptonyms and they are fascinating puzzles in and of themselves. The meaning of many cryptonyms are STILL UNKNOWN.

We searched PAXINBUA BTUEPAMSG. No results found.

QL EEEEE HKAEE AA yielded results but only from the common double usage of the “A” character.

If the reader has any further knowledge of how cryptonyms function or can provide definitions of the 2 examples cited in this post please contact us at researchmetron@gmail.com or drop a comment on this post. At some future point we will post the entire list of cryptonyms we found inside these declassified documents.

How both crytponym cited examples appear in the Topic Extraction analysis.

From the Topic Analysis, the second most used phrase in all the documents is “Full Text Superzone Message.” Huh? We tried to logically assume this was common phrase that applied to most intelligence documents. We assumed it would be easy enough to find other example of this phrase in documents outside of this corpus based on UFOs. We were wrong. Typing the phrase into a search engine linked us back to some of the very documents and images of said documents that are part of downloaded package from the CIA. This implies the phrase is unique to this set of public, declassified, documents supplied by the CIA. That is not to state it does not exist in documents within the organization that pertain to different topics. If you know what this phrase means, drop us a line at researchmetron@gmail.com

Based on our spot check of documents and the 16th most used Topic phrase “Program Television Summary” it is established that much of the intelligence gathering contained in these documents was the result of… watching large amounts of Soviet television programs. The Keywords represent the words most associated when the phrase “Program Summary Television” appears. This is logical, the most efficient way to gather information with next to no friction on a foreign adversary in the 50’s to early 90’s is to watch their television programming, not just their news, but their documentaries and general programming.

About Those Recent CIA UFO Files…

You may be aware that the CIA recently responded to a FOIA request from The Black Vault regarding UFO documents. You can find the latest document dump here.

If you are unfamiliar with The Black Vault, we highly recommend you pour yourself a steaming hot cup of curiosity and peruse the many interesting documents they feature on the site. It is compelling reading.

Given the voluminous nature of the CIA documents, we decided to take a quick peek at the latest collection running a quick word frequency analysis. We had to take into account the CIA’s ultrafrequent use of acronyms, letter beacons, and other textual jargon that makes sense to their employees and government officials, but not the rest of humanity. A quick spot check of some of the files gave the impression the documents are heavily themed on the Soviet Union. The word frequency cloud verified our guess.

We left the phrase, or word, “ANON” in the analysis thinking it might be short for “anonymous.” Further review required.

Interestingly the words, “saucer” and “spacecraft” ranked so low that they didn’t make the cut in the main analysis (see Appendix 1), they are categorized as leftover words. They have a TF-IDF of 129.4 and 128.3 respectively. The word “UFO” clocked in at 674 instances of use with a TD-IDF of 268.4. Learn about TF-IDF here.

Clearly the primary focus of the documents was on the USSR/Soviet Union as part of the agency’s cold war monitoring of reports emanating from their various intelligence apparatus. China too. This would include UFO reports. But we are not dismissive, there are some very interesting nuggets in here that we found during the spot check of indvidual files. Discussion of advanced, exotic propulsion systems, a cold fusion test that was successful and discussion of a desire to implement them into saucer-like craft. As such, these documents will be added to the main Metron Deep Research document repository for other analysis projects of a more holistic nature.

Appendix 1 – Leftover words (words of lesser frequency that “did not make the cut” as of primary relevance)

NLP Analysis: MUFON Journals

Project Name: MUFONJRNL1

Project: NLP Analysis of a corpus consisting of MUFON Journals from the 1970’s and late 1980’s.

Corpus: PDF document file types, 33 in total

Description: MUFON is the Mutual UFO Network, a group of civilian ufo researchers and ufologists. They publish a monthly journal that is distributed to membership. Many of the older journals are available online.

Word Frequency/Word Cloud

The analysis consisted of a basic word frequency that produced a word cloud with a few interesting items to note. The frequency of words, September, October, PM, March, February and Smith were interesting. Who is Smith? It is the most common last name in the US so it could be a result of this, but it presents an interesting thread to pull on – are people with the last name Smith more prone to be involved with the phenomenon?

The time reference words, September, October, March and February indicate months in which the phenomenon is associated with, bearing in mind none of this is absolute as the data here just isn’t large enough to derive a definite statistical sample. But it does give us some clues to follow up. PM was also interesting in that it clearly indicates the PM time frame as that most associated with the manifestation of the phenomena. Daytime sightings are widely known to be the best because of the ability to more positively identify unusual objects. But everyone pretty much agrees, most sightings are reported at night, when the odds of misidentification significantly increase.

The word, “Seguin” is another interesting result. It was assumed Seguin, Texas is the word referred to from the analysis. Further confirmation can be provided by examining the documents. Seguin has a population of 30,000 residents and is one of the oldest towns in the state of Texas. It holds the largest concentration of early 19th-century concrete buildings in the United States. About 20 of them remain standing. Seguin is off I-10 just northeast of San Antonio and can be visited on the way to Austin, TX. What is special about Seguin? Unknown at this time, but a quick search engine search of “seguin tx ufo” yielded results of a recent ufo sighting in July, 2020 that made national news.

It would be interesting to look closer at Seguin’s history as a potential ufo hotspot or bastion of other paranormal activity.

Word Proximity Plot

The first foray into word proximity analysis yielded results that were mostly not surprising given what we know of the subject, but a few interesting items of note. Keywords of note: abductees, abduction, abductions, agencies, agency. The keywords were selected in context of the theory that abductions are events staged/carried out by government intelligence agencies. From the plot below, an example: Use of “entity” functions near words near keywords, agencies and abductions.

At the top of the plot we see more clustering of words with high frequency of association. Intelligence, hypnotic, imaginary, aliens, alien, encounters, hypnosis, multiple, records, security are words most in proximity to the keyword set: abductees, abduction, abductions, agencies, agency.

Names are interesting and worth follow-up detail reading of the actual documents. Who is MCLNTYRE? GSW? Who is MCGUIRE? MOORE?

A quick search of GSW results in:

GSW: (wound) A break in the continuity of body structures caused by violence, trauma, or surgery to tissues. In treating the nonsurgically created wound, tetanus prophylaxis must be considered.

This would be a logical term that one would expect to be applied to the abduction topic. Further detail of the use of the acronym in the specific documents will confirm this usage.

This is still a nascent analysis attempt. There are further points to research within this corpus, especially with word proximity and topic analysis methods. But the initial results yielded very interesting avenues for further exploration. A spidergram was created to start documenting the items of interest that warrant further research. An additional analysis of a corpus of books by Jacques Vallee, (Vallee Analysis1) was performed that yielded some intersecting results. That analysis will be detailed at a later point. Note: The months of October and June are the months most frequently counted, therefore they are targeted for follow-up. Potentially correlated data sets on sightings/events of ufo anomalies are available both within the Metron Deep Research repository and many more still floating around the Internet. The can be used for research into the correlations, the most obvious question to answer, is a majority of the UFO Phenomenon reported in the months June and October?

The Usefulness of Probability in the Approach to the Study of the UFO/UAP Phenomenon.

If you estimate probabilities for every belief you can therefore choose the belief that features the highest probability. This is can be used for purposes of predicting outcomes. But it can also be used to add weight to a belief one is looking to validate.

We take a basic probability formula, P(A) = n(A)/n(S) or written another way:

Probability of an Event Formula

Where,

P(A) is the probability of an event “A”
n(A) is the number of favourable outcomes
n(S) is the total number of events in the sample space

There are other more advanced formulas to calculate probability but let’s stay with the most simple definition for our purposes. As Einstein said, “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.” Which he actually did not say, it was a synthesis of a number of actual quotes he made while lecturing in Oxford, June 10, 1933. What he actually said was, “It can scarcely be denied that the supreme goal of all theory is to make the irreducible basic elements as simple and as few as possible without having to surrender the adequate representation of a single datum of experience.” And here, like the nature of the UFO/UAP phenomenon, we see and hear that things are not always as they seem, they then become further distorted when repeated through time and concepts appear as nested holons of similar construction.

In the application of probability to the study of the UFO phenomenon we use the formula as a framework. Probability does not need to apply to only numbers, it can apply to physical, real world facts. It can apply to language, our technology that identifies, defines and communicates those facts.

When considering the probability of a research case being valid for consideration we must take into account the evidence and data. Does the evidence rise to the standard of being fact? Does the data rise to the level of “ground-level,” absent of significant noise and superfluous values so as to lend solid support to the evidence?

When one considers evidence, what forms do we have to work with? Examples, radar returns, reliable witnesses, physical evidence, multiple witnesses – shared confirmation of events, photographic evidence and in some cases reliable, vetted documentation. As in data analysis, the more of it that is available, the more efficient and accurate the outputs shall be.

The above stated forms of evidence come with their own sets of sub-attributes which must be weighed carefully. Example, what are the attributes of a “reliable witness?” This is where witnesses who have trained observation skills rise to the top tier of reliability. Do they have knowledge of aeronautics? Meteorology and so forth? Are they honest? They do not seek fame and fortune or make attempts to overtly capitalize on their experience with the explicit goal of remuneration? These factors must be measured carefully.

When these outputs are solidly verifiable or verifiable to the extent that they present a low, acceptable margin of error then we can consider them “favourable outcomes.”

We shall therefore count the number of favourable outcomes we have as it relates to a specific case or broader area of research. Broad areas of research must first be built on a foundation of specific cases where the favourable outcomes affirm high probability. Example: several specific, targeted analysis of possibly anomalous structures on Mars if found to be uncorrelated to natural geologic forces can lay the foundation justifying wider research into the theory that structures are artificially constructed.

NASA Seeks Planet 9.

That a Planet Nine exists in our solar system is one of those ideas that mainstream science mocked for several decades. Now NASA is openly talking about the possibility of its existence. If found, will there be an apology issued to the estate of Zecharia Sitchin?

One thing is for sure, the taxpayers are receiving tremendous value from the work being performed by NASA and the Hubble telescope.

Tacit Disclosure of UFO Phenomena

In our opinion it seems today the Pulitzer level journalism is coming out of various news outlets investigating and covering stories centered on the ongoing US Military/US Government investigations into Unidentifed Aerial Phenomenon.

The Debrief website filed this story on December 2nd, 2020 that gives the reader the latest on the new Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (or UAPTF) that is ACTIVELY briefing briefing lawmakers, Intelligence Organizations, and the high level US military officials regarding encounters with UAP that exhibit traits and capabilities that are unlike any conventional craft known to America or its competing adversaries.

Let that sink in for a moment. The UAPTF exists, its mission is to catalog, investigate and brief the highest levels of US military and government officials. Is this tacit disclosure? The very existence of the program as a public body provides a solid indicator that United States military and governmental agencies are acknowledging the existence of UFOs or as they like to refer to them, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena.

Note, no one is claiming to know what these objects are or where they come from. None of these agencies have definitively stated that the objects represent extraterrestrial life forms. Though when you dig into some of the deeper research around this story, there are some very interesting educated speculations being made.

UFOs exist. Craft or objects that are unidentifiable to the human species that exhibit manuevers of intelligent manner are in our skies and operate with near impunity. This is now a logical conclusion one can make. We cannot state anything definitive beyond that based on the established evidentiary facts. But given the ramifcations for our species, we must damn well try.
